Upon graduating from high school, I left my home state of Connecticut, eager to get “life” started. After a 2 yr stint at Clark University, I moved out to Boston, attended a small fashion school, and was introduced to my first love, runway shows. After spending many of my formidable years singing anthem songs and experimenting with (several) outrageous haircuts, it was time to move to New York. It was there, being surrounded by all that insanity and inspiration, that I woke up one day with the revelation: I want to be a makeup artist. With a true gypsy spirit uncontainable in a 26 yr old, I recruited my best and headed West. It wasn’t until I was introduced to my friend and mentor, the late Paul Starr, that I fully understood just what being a makeup artist meant. Suddenly makeup was more than a product in plastic! It had texture and heat and endless possibilities! From the most stunning bronze goddess to Boy George in full regalia, Paul embodied the true essence of an “artist” with his versatility and open mind. These are the things I carry with me today. Paul taught me more than I could ever sum up in a simple paragraph, but more than anything, he taught me to trust my hands, my heart, and the right shade of red lipstick. I currently live and work in Los Angeles, and in the summertime, |
